hi i have created the first map for my new doom wad which i want to be kinda like doom 1 except its bigger and more challenging and is using enemies from doom 2 and stuff , cuz i like doom 1 the most but it is a little bit too easy for me so im making my oiwn wad thats kinda like doom 1 but except its more challenging and will have much bigger levels , and please play it and if u played it can u please give me feedback on the map , every criticism and stuff about every aspect of the map you can give me please (: imgur.com/a/QoC6g5J

Do you have a name for the wad yet? a good rule of thumb is to name your wads so people know what to call it. i will try to remember to play it once the Pc internet situation is resolved. But i did see the video on Doomer Boards and it does look really good! i love the level design, may i ask how long have you been mapping?

ive been mapping for about a year. i dont make wads too frequently (especially now since my wifi problem) but I am not the best at level design.. but people still enjoy my maps for their Surrealism. Hard indeed. I'm talking about OP's level. Basically, I can't get past 4 Revenants after nukage part. Even lured a Hell Knight to brawl with them, but still. Am I supposed to use that berserk pack against a whole crowd of revs? Never made to it anyway.
I like the visuals, although occassionaly there are some weird textures (the shell pack area which opens next to the door behind which is Mancubus. Wtf is with the side textures, and also the lamp flat? The lamp is not centered.). Anyway, the visuals and combat are good, I'll try to learn tropes from you. You seem to make stuff I like and would want to be able to make myself.
Good idea, by the way. Doom 1 On Doom 2, I was thinking something along this line too, but I can't make good levels. I also was thinking about something like Doom 1 never happened, it got delayed so the world has seen the entirety of Doom 2 released as the first Doom game (i.e. the first Doom to be seen was running on our timeline's "Doom2 engine" and had Doom 2 monster roster, and then this is reenacted as community project). Which of course wouldn't quite work with the level of difficulty you have there, but anyway.
Deathclaw886, I'll play your wad too, but later. 15 levels is indeed a legit megawad, it will take time to do it all. Maybe I will have to do a few levels, then pause. Time is hard to come by.

Tried to play a third time, but didn't get it. Berserk pack wasn't there this time. Dunno, I find that rev encounter too hard, will play in the better days, which might be not soon.
EDIT: Ok, played fourth time. Will transfer demos later to this PC I'm writing on. I got past that damn encounter, although with RNG blessing I think (and health/soulsphere hoarding till the nukage cross). But, the platform that is raised and is textured like a lift, can't be lowered, I fell and got stuck on the side where there is a switch which cannot be pressed. I played in -complevel 2. Was it intended to be played in a different complevel, like -complevel 9 (Boom) or is that switch to lower the platform back not functioning?
Just checked, I am talking about linedef 1084, it has action = 60 which is conventional Doom. Aha! It's facing the wrong side, and can be only pressed on top the platform, not from below. Hence it is possible to get stuck. I would also suggest to change it to a lift lower wait raise instead, so that the action that raised that platform in first place (linedef 1096 is currently assigned action 69) doesn't have to be repeatable.

The one I was playing on is also Windows. Although I use GNU/Linux for everything but gaming. Anyway, you need to get to command prompt somehow, in the directory where you have the source port of your choice. You also need to play demo against the appropriate version of the wad (the original here, not the update). In command prompt, you type something like this: prboom-plus -file "Doom The Way I do.wad" -playdemo doomTheWayIDo_vigilantFDA
There is a trick is that when you typed a name of the file partially, you can press tab to get autocompletion (repeatedly pressing tab would cycle between all files that start with what you typed). This is how you type long wad and demo names easily.

Which port(s) do you use? Demo may be compatible with vanilla/limit-removing ports (Chocolate, Crispy, although perhaps your map won't run in Chocolate anyway), but not advanced ports like Gzdoom.

You can run demo with Crispy Doom, just substitute "prboom-plus" in the example I provided with crispy's executable. There is a chance at desync, though, as Crispy makes changes to some frames, there was an issue with Arch-Vile frame which crispy devs wanted to fix (flame spawns in the wrong place originally, before latching on the target), but it proved to affect demos.
And demos also need to be run against the file they were recorded against.
